Alfred Leroy Young, Jr.

Alfred Leroy "Fred" Young, Jr., 53 of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025 in his home.

Born on August 26, 1971, in Cumberland County, Fred was the son of Alfred "Leroy" Young, Sr. and the late Linda Hill Young.

In addition to his father Leroy, he is also survived by his sister, Linda "Tina" Young Smith; nephew, Tony Smith; and a host of other family members and friends.

Fred believed in helping the community and diligently served as a firefighter with the City of Fayetteville for several years before retiring. In his free time, he could periodically be found fishing peacefully while enjoying the outdoors. Being an avid sports fanatic, he often enjoyed watching all types either showing support for his favorite teams or rooting for his favorite race car drivers.

Fred will be greatly missed and forever cherished by everyone who knew and loved him.
