Boyce Ken Whaley

Boyce Ken Whaley, age 70 of Wallace, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Laurels of Forest Glenn in Garner, North Carolina.

Born in Pender County, he is the son of the late David Austin Whaley, Jr. and Doris Irene English Whaley. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Renee May; brother, Mike Whaley; nephew, Austin Whaley; uncles and aunts, Joseph and Elsie Lane, Eilas and Thelma Pigford, Horace and Evelyn Whaley, Harvey and Virginia Whaley, and cousin, Tony Lane.

He is survived by his daughter, Deneille Fox and husband David, and grandson, Devin Fox; brothers, David “Buddy” Whaley and wife Gigi, Greg Whaley and wife Susan; nieces, Shannon Moore and Lauren Whaley; nephews, Brandon Corbett, Shawn and Nate Whaley; cousins, Rhonda Rivenbark and Elias Pigford, and extended family. 

Boyce had loving parents and grew up in a close-knit family. He was Aunt Elsie’s favorite and could do no wrong. He loved fishing, deer hunting, and being at the hunting camp. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching football on TV. He had strong opinions and had no difficulty expressing them frequently and with certainty. He was a Republican and had no problem letting you know he was rooting for TRUMP to win the 2024 election. 

The last year of Boyce’s life brought new challenges as his health deteriorated. Deneille, David and Devin were there to support and love him. During his last days his sense of humor and flirtatious nature made him a favorite with his caretakers. They made sure he had on his favorite camouflage hat, even when sleeping. He had a special name for each of them. Boyce was grateful for their care and always thanked them and made them feel appreciated. 

He will be missed by all who loved and knew him. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Wallace Women's Club Building, 216 NE Railroad Street, Wallace, NC.  Permission to park  at the Hispanic church across the street. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Honor Boyce by wearing your favorite camouflage, jeans, or Trump attire.
