Camellia Barfield

Camellia Barfield (also lovingly known as "Sissy" and "Mimi"), 65, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away September 28, 2026, in CFVMC, surrounded by her loving family and closest friends. Camellia truly epitomized what it meant to be an angel on earth. She was the kindest, most caring, and unselfish person we ever knew. She was loved by all and she will be greatly missed.

Camellia was preceded in death by her mother, Shelby Wallace, and brother Charles D. (C.D.) Kirkendoll. 

She is survived by her son, James Barfield; grandson, Gavin Williams; father Charles Wallace; sister, Tonya Anderson and brother-in-law Denis; sister-in-law Donna Kirkendoll; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Camellia loved her family deeply and never missed an opportunity to get together and spend time with them.

Camellia worked at Walmart for many years where she established numerous lifelong friendships and lovingly referred to them as her Walmart family. She adored children, especially her grandson Gavin, whom she was very proud of. After retiring from Walmart, Camellia began her dream job of taking care of babies. She started working at a church daycare and later began babysitting an infant girl. Children brought her so much joy and she loved and cared for them like they were her own. That was the thing about Camellia, once she knew you, you were considered family to her and she always treated you as such.

Camellia was also a loyal and devoted member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church where she loved serving the Lord, her church family, and community. She sang in the choir and on the praise team and always volunteered her time and talents wherever they were needed within the church.

Although her passing has been heart-wrenching and we all miss her deeply, we will continue to cherish all the wonderful memories we have of our angel on earth-now heaven's angel.
