Charles Wayne Pierce

Charles “Charlie” Wayne Pierce, 51, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center following a brief battle with cancer. Charlie was born in Cumberland County and graduated from South View High School in 1993.

Charlie was a caring and loving person who always knew how to make someone feel welcome. He had a special way of making a presence in any room that he entered. Whether surrounded by family, friends, or even someone he had just met, Charlie brought genuine kindness that someone could always remember. He was known for his clever wit and jovial spirit, which was evident from the moment that you met him.

Above all, Charlie enjoyed being with his family and the people he loved. He was a man of many projects and always seemed to have something that he was working on, fixing, or planning. Charlie had a love for vehicles, collecting antiques, tending to his collection of plants & connecting with nature, exploring the mountains & fishing the coast of North Carolina, and animals, especially his five special dogs. He never met an animal he didn’t love, treating every creature with absolute kindness.

Charlie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gordon Farris Fowler and Blanch Jordan Fowler; paternal grandparents, Charles Willard Pierce and Jeanette Beasley Pierce; his cousin, Mark Steven Tew; his aunt, Paquita Ann Swan; his uncle, Michael Gordon Fowler; his father-in-law, Jimmie Phillip Miller; and his beloved Labrador Retriever, Winston.

Left to cherish Charlie’s memory are his loving wife, Pandora Elizabeth Pierce, of the home; his son, Gavin Pierce (Chase), of Lumberton; his stepdaughter, Amanda Wilson (Brandon), of Hope Mills; his stepson, Tyler Clark (Kaela), of Bolivia; his parents, Larry Pierce and Peggy Pierce, of Hope Mills; and his mother-in-law, Jane Miller, of Hope Mills. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tristan, Ryder, Opal, and Lottie; his beloved dogs, Tessa, Ella, Frankie, Taylor, and Samson; and many extended family members & friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Duke University Hospital, and Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for their compassionate care for Charlie over the past month.

The Pierce family invites you to celebrate the life of Charlie on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Pinecrest Funeral Home in Hope Mills, NC. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

A reception will follow the service to share some of our favorite memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry, and remember a wonderful individual who will be missed immensely.
