Donald Jasper Hemingway

Donald Jasper “DJ” Hemingway, 67, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Born on July 12, 1959, in Cumberland County, DJ was the son of the late Otis Manley Hemingway and Shirley Marie Bunnells Hemingway. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Geneva Fay Hemingway and Peggy Piet.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia A. Matthews and her husband Danny, along with Kim Jones, Kaitlyn Matthews, and Christian Matthews; his son, Davis Phillip Privette and his wife Brenda and son, Bernie Kaita; his loving fiancée, Mary M. Tackett and seven daughters, Sabrina, Catherine, Jessica, Tammie, Chrissy, Darlene, and Cheryl; 18 grandkids; 15 great grandkids; and a host of other family and friends.

DJ will be deeply missed and forever cherished by everyone who knew and loved him.
