Donald Townsend

Don Howard Townsend, age 73, of Hope Mills, passed away at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton after a long illness, Thursday January 16, 2014.

He is the son of the late A.A. and Thelma Townsend of Gray's Creek and retired from USAir with 32 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby of the home; sons, Robert, Richard and Steve; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Robert, Jr., Mindy, Jackie, Angela and Garrett; two brothers, Gerald and Terry, and a sister Janice Sugar.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with full Masonic Rites, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services in Hope Mills. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a non-profit organization that helps pet families in crisis; "Unchain Cumberland County - The Big Fix", P. O. Box 474, Hope Mills, NC 28348.
