Elizabeth Naomi Grimes Fisher

August 6, 1964 — February 22, 2026

Elizabeth Naomi Grimes Fisher August 6, 1964 — February 22, 2026 Elizabeth Naomi Grimes Fisher, 61, passed away on February 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, wonderful memories, and a kindness that earned her the title of "the world’s sweetest person" from all who knew her. Born on August 6, 1964, she was the daughter of the late David Elwin Grimes, Sr. and Bobbie Lou Jackson Grimes.

Elizabeth was a proud graduate of Southview Senior High School, where she laid the foundation for a life built on diligent work and genuine care for others. She went on to spend a number of years in the food services industry, working as a waitress where her natural warmth and her gift for making people feel welcome made her a favorite wherever she worked. In time, she answered her greatest calling, that of homemaker, mother, and the steady loving heart at the center of her family's life. A devoted mother and grandmother, Elizabeth’s world revolved around her family. She is survived by son Zackery Fisher and his wife LeighAnn Fisher. She was the proud grandmother to three grandchildren who were the light of her life: Olivia Danielle 15, Brantley Trey 14, and Hunter Layne 12. Elizabeth is also survived by her three brothers and her sister-in-law, who remain to cherish her memory: David E. Grimes, Jr.; Fairley J. Grimes; and L. Charles Grimes along with his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Glover Grimes. She also leaves behind her beloved aunts, Mollie Ann Jackson Dunn, Willard Patricia Jackson Davis, and Fairlyn Gail Jackson Montella, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins she dearly loved and often asked about. Elizabeth had a wonderful gift for making the world feel kinder and much brighter. Whether she was meticulously crocheting a new Afghan creation or performing the simple, tender act of braiding a niece’s hair, her hands and sunny personality were always serving those she loved. She possessed a rare grace that allowed her to take any situation and make everything seem so much better just by her being there. Elizabeth’s constant smile will remain a clearly etched memory for us all. She also possessed a rare ability to see and speak the simple truth. And because her family knew the purity of her heart, her words were met with gratitude rather than resistance. She had the courage to say the hard things, yet she did so with such grace that her honesty was always embraced with love rather than judgment. Elizabeth has been reunited in Heaven’s glory with her parents, David and Bobbie Lou, her grandparents Fairley James Jackson and wife, Mary Elizabeth Bullock Jackson, who were “Papa” and “Big Momma” to us all, her great aunt Willard “Wee-wee” Janie Pate, and her aunt Daisy, all of whom she so dearly loved. She now rejoices in the presence of the Lord, leaving a legacy of humility, incredible kindness, and faith for us all to follow.
