Evelyn Carolyn Brigman Young, 82, of Hope Mills, died on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025, at First Health Hospice House in Moore County after being transferred from Moore Regional Hospital where she spent a week and a half.
Born October 18, 1942, in Robeson County, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Brigman and Maude Owens Brigman. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Oscar Brigman, Vernon Brigman, EJ Brigman, Loyie Brigman, and Johnny Brigman; sisters, Mildred Bullock and Aliene Norton; and her faithful canine companion, Coco.
Evelyn is survived by her four sons, William Allen Young of Raeford, Kenneth Elijah Young and wife Jackie of Fayetteville, James B. Young and wife Brenda of Fayetteville, and Roy Franklin Young and wife Farrah of Hope Mills; brother, Larry Wayne Brigman and wife Mary of Fayetteville; sister, Ettie Jane St. Romain and husband Rochell of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Over the years, Evelyn spent most of her time tending to the family business, Young’s Cannon Towel Outlets. With three locations, her dedication found her travelling between Fayetteville and Wilson to keep matters in order. Later in life, Evelyn eventually worked at Dixie Kids in Fayetteville for several years. Even though she enjoyed taking care of the family business, the thing she loved most of all was taking care of her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn will be remembered as a kind and caring spirit who was always willing to give and to help others even when she was struggling herself. The impact she had on numerous lives will never be forgotten.
Evelyn will be greatly missed and forever cherished by everyone who knew and loved her.
