Harold Wayne Sherrill

Harold Wayne Sherrill, 75, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026.  

Born on July 31, 1950, in Cumberland County, Wayne was the son of the late Harold and Carolyn Cain Sherrill.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Zwilling; brother-in-law, Michael Zwilling; and Denise's son, Andrew Collins.

He is survived by his significant other, Denise Hall; son, Matthew Sherrill; granddaughter, Lawson Sherrill; stepson, Sam Gilmore; sister, Rebecca Phillips & husband Nathan; Denise's son, Michael Rackoff & wife Liz; and Denise's granddaughter, Olivia Rackoff.

Wayne began working at Kelly Springfield/Goodyear in 1968, and did so proudly until his retirement in 2009. Wayne was a retired deputy fire chief at Department 24, an active fireman at Gray's Creek Fire Department, and served on the board of directors. He loved fishing and mowing grass.
