Helen Fields McLean, 87, of Hope Mills passed away March 10, 2025.
Born in Cumberland County she was the daughter of the late John Paul & Myrtle Fields. She was also preceded in death by her husband James A. "Jim" McLean, Sr.; sister Ila Mae Turlington; brothers Rev. Roland P. Fields and James D. Fields.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise Autry & husband Joel; son James A. McLean, Jr. & wife Paulette; grandchildren Alan Holland & wife Jenny, Trey McLean & wife Tanya, Brandon McLean & wife Beth, Jan Taylor and Michael Autry & wife Sonya; great grandchildren Ethan Holland, Caleb Holland, Grace McLean, Taylor Barefoot, Shelby Autry, Ryan Taylor, Annika McLean, Nolan McLean and Cecilia McLean; brother Roy L. Fields & wife Dianna; several nieces & nephews.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She served in many capacities at church to include, WMU, Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir just to name a few. She served with the Lady Lions, the friends of the library, the Hope Mills Bicentennial Comittee, the Election Polls. She was the office manager at Roger's Aircraft Service and was co-founder of Hope Mills Tire & Service Co., Inc.
She loved cooking and feeding her family, reading, gardening, crafts and traveling. Her favorite thing at work was to open boxes. She had a great passion for aviation and loved sharing stories about days gone by.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Highland Baptist Church 4456 Legion Road Hope Mills, NC 28348 or to the charity of your choice.
She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
