Hurley Young Jr.

Hurley Young Jr., age 82, of Fayetteville passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Cumberland County, he is the son of the late Hurley David Young and Juanita Bill Young. He is also preceded in death by his wife Joyce; son, David; sister, Barbara; and brother, Gerald.

He is survived by two daughters, Judy Gessler and husband John, and Ninita Young and husband Michael; three sons, Timothy Young, Thomas Young and wife Lisa,, and Farren Young and wife Tonia; two sisters, Jackie Morris, and Kitty Tew and husband Gerald; 22 grandkids, 31 great grandkids, and 6 great- great- grandkids.

Hurley was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man and adored his wife, Joyce. During her sickness, he never left her side. He loved playing basketball with the grandkids and loved telling stories. He was known as the Cigar man or Gas man, and was an avid John Wayne fan, and watched Gunsmoke every day. He had lots of friends.

We would like to give special thanks to all our family and friends who spent time and cared so deeply for our dad during his time of illness. He appreciated and loved every one of you. The Young Family
