James Stedman Powell, Jr.

James Stedman "Boogie" Powell, Jr., 58 of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Highsmith Rainey Specialty Hospital with family by his side.

Born July 28, 1966, in Cumberland County, Boogie is the son of James Stedman Powell, Sr. and Geraldine Raynor Powell. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his sister, Lisa Kuykendall and husband Mark; niece, Tiffany Burch and husband James; great niece, Emery Burch; great nephew, Caleb Burch; and a host of other family and friends.

Boogie's gentle soul touched many lives over the years with his warm and affectionate spirit brightening any room he was in. Boogie enjoyed spending time watching TV, especially if Spongebob Squarepants was on. When not watching TV, he could sometimes be found simply sitting peacefully as he watched the cars drive by outside. He had an admiration for flags as well as many of the simple things in life. Most of all he loved his family and the times they shared together.

Boogie will be greatly missed and forever cherished by everyone who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the funeral home, followed with a Service of Remberance at 2:00 PM.
