Jane Marie Hanno Ingersoll, 81, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026.

Jane was born on July 6, 1945, in Lowville, New York, to Francis and Dorothy Hanno. She spent her childhood growing up alongside her siblings on the family farm, where she learned the values of hard work, family, and caring for others—qualities that remained a part of her throughout her life.

Jane lived a life centered around the people she loved. She enjoyed family vacations, taking long walks, attending church, reading the Bible, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But perhaps her greatest gift was her ability to make everyone she met feel special.

Jane never met a stranger. If you met her once, you often felt as though you had known her your entire life. Her caring spirit, quick sense of humor, and unmistakable personality left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Over the years, many of her children’s friends became like family themselves, affectionately calling her “Gramma.” She understood that family is not defined by blood alone, but by the love, laughter, memories, and connections we share.

Throughout her life, Jane held a variety of jobs, including working in an administrative role for her husband’s company, serving as a CNA, and operating a tanning salon. But of all the roles she held, her favorite—and the one she was most proud of—was being “Gramma.” She cherished helping raise and care for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the love she gave them will remain with them for generations to come.

Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Ingersoll, and her siblings, Frank Hanno and Mary Lyng.

She leaves behind her son, Jeff (Beth) Ingersoll, and her daughter, Jill (Brent) McLeod; grandchildren Tori (Austin) Hudson, Ryann Bell, Michael (Victoria) Slaughter, Aaron Ingersoll, Eli Ingersoll, and Hayes McLeod; great-grandchildren Kateleigh King and Kameron Hudson; and her siblings Mark, Steve, Michael, Kurt, and Tom Hanno.

Jane leaves behind more than family. She leaves countless friends and loved ones whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing her. Her kindness, warmth, humor, and ability to make everyone feel like family will be deeply missed. The memories she created, the love she gave, and the lives she touched will continue to live on in those who knew and loved her.

She was loved deeply, she loved deeply, and she will never be forgotten.
