Jerry Henry Polson, born on May 9, 1940, peacefully passed away in his home, surrounded by loved ones, on November 7, 2025, at the age of 85. Jerry was the beloved son of Henry Ludvick Polson and Myrtle Lillian Polson, and the cherished brother to his older sister, Betty Jane Polson.
On May 22, 1964, Jerry married his lifelong best friend, Peggy Lynn Polson. Their love was sealed for time and all eternity on January 2, 1976. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Kris Raymond Polson and Katharine Ann Copeland, and were blessed with eight grandchildren: Nathan, Beau, Nicholas, Brandi (married to Dallas Scholes), Caitlyn, David, Alex, and Caleb. Jerry also delighted in his two great-grandchildren, Henry Polson and Anthony Scholes.
Jerry earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah—Go Utes! He often joked that the only thing more electrifying than his degree was the Utes' rivalry with BYU. He went on to earn his Master’s degree from the University of Southern California. Throughout his career, Jerry made significant contributions while working for Hughes Aircraft, Harris Corporation, and Delval.
Jerry was a man of many talents and passions. He loved building hot rods, scaling mountain peaks, and cycling. One of his most memorable (and humorous) adventures was as a Scoutmaster, when he led a troop on a 25-mile bike ride through the rolling hills of Missouri. Let's just say, those hills nearly got the best of him, but he made it back with a story that would be told for generations!
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jerry served in various callings, including as a bishopric counselor and Elders Quorum President. However, his most cherished role was as a Scoutmaster, where he found immense joy in mentoring the rising generation.
Jerry was a devoted husband for nearly 62 years, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. His legacy of love, laughter, and service will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
