Jesse Max Smith, 88, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
Born on May 6, 1938, in Bladen County, North Carolina, Jesse was the son of the late Jesse Smith and the late Retha Lewis of Cypress Creek, North Carolina. Jesse was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma "Tina" Smith; and his sisters, Peggy and Clyder, of Clinton, North Carolina.
Jesse grew up in Roseboro, North Carolina, where he attended high school. During his youth, he served as a school bus driver and was an accomplished baseball player for his high school team. His love for baseball remained with him throughout his life, and he was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves.
Jesse will be remembered for his dedication to Jehovah, his family, and the many lives he touched throughout his years. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 5752 Fisher Road, Fayetteville, NC.
The family extends their gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time.
