Margaret E. Williams, 80, peacefully entered into rest on September 8, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, in Fayetteville, NC. She was born on May 18, 1945, a daughter of the late Janet M. (Crum) Mangum and Lonnie Lee Mangum Sr.
Ms. Williams was the head chef and owner of Unique Fish Delight Restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island before retiring. She was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Outreach Ministries for over 30 years under the leadership of the late Bishop Clarence E. Lassiter and Reverend Marilyn A. Lassiter Emeritus. After retiring, Ms. Williams volunteered helping others at her local soup kitchen and Meals on Wheels in Providence before moving to Fayetteville, North Carolina.
She was a member of Restoration Christian Church Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Phillip Thomas and Pastor Angela Thomas. Her pastors and church congregation will miss “Mother Margaret” as she was affectionately called, always there to lend a helping hand and cook a meal for others.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Shawn Soljour (Francois) of New Canaan, CT; one sister, Gloria L. (Mangum) Gomes of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Lonnie L. Mangum Jr. and James O. Mangum of Providence, RI; and four granddaughters, Kishauna Jackson (Lawrence) of San Diego, CA, Fanise Soljour, Shelomi Soljour, and Evania Soljour of New Canaan, CT.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kerry A. Williams II; son, Kerry A. Williams III; four brothers, William Crum, John A. Mangum, and Steven C. Mangum, all of Providence, and Robert Crum Carpenter of Raleigh, NC. She also leaves uncles, aunts, cousins, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, godchildren, great nephews and nieces, and friends who loved her very much and will miss her dearly.
