Mary Agnes Groves

Mary "Agnes" Elizabeth Emanuel  Groves, 90, of Hope Mills, was born on March 2, 1935 to Levander and Mary "Missy" Emanuel. She departed life on earth to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Cooper with husband Robert; son, Ken Groves with wife Sheila; daughters, Ellon Cook with husband Ricky & Lorie Johnson with husband Danny; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Cornelius Emanuel & James Elbert Emanuel; sister, Eyvonne Mosemak, wife of John; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by both her parents; husband, William Groves; daughter, Wanda Groves; infant son, Mitchell Groves; and grandsons, Richard Randall Cook, Stevie Cooper, and Dylan Townsend.

Agnes was an employee of the Capital Manufacturing Company for over 20 years, and then went on to become a seamstress at the Riverside Mattress Company for 20 years as well, retiring at the age of 78 years old. 

Agnes was a woman of deep faith who loved Jesus and her family, whose love for the Lord shined through in everything she did. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren is unwavering, always offering love, wisdom, and encouragement. She has taught us by example how to live with grace, kindness, and compassion. Through her faith and love, she has created a legacy that inspires all who knew her.
