Melissa Dean

Melissa Dean, 51 of Hope Mills, passed away on October 26, 2022, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Born on September 6, 1971 in Wake County, Melissa is the daughter of Nancy Kay Whitfield and the late Sherrill Wade Daniel. She is also preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorothy Daniel; grandparents, Ivan and Nina Underwood; brother, Greg Whitfield; daddy, Farrell Whitfield; and her first husband, Ricky Welch.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Phil Dean; daughter, Jessica Dean; son, Joshua Dean; son, Matthew Dean; daughter, Kelsey Welch; mother, Nancy Kay Whitfield; sister, Alison Whitfield; sister, Tara Whitfield; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Melissa graduated from Piedmont Community College with an Associate's Degree in Nursing in 2004. She was an RN for 18 years and loved serving her patients. Melissa was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
