Michael George Casely

SFC(R) Michael George Casely, 64, of Fayetteville passed away the morning of August 14, 2026.

Born in Washington, DC he was the son of the late George Patrick and Barbara May Gardt Casely.

He served honorably in the United States Army from 1984 to 2007, serving in the United Nations command Security Batallion, where he patrolled the DMZ between North and South Korea, in the 82nd Airborne where he was a paratrooper, as well as in the 5th RTB in Georgia where he trained and led Ranger qualified Soldiers, introducing the concept of leadership to young officers and enlisted alike. He deployed during the Gulf War to Operations Desert Shield and Storm. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, as well as one of less than 10 United States service members authorized to wear Jordanian Jump Wings, which were gifted to him by the current King of Jordan.

Following his retirement from the military, after a brief stint where he continued working, he lived the rest of his days involved in the academic and theatrical communities of Fayetteville, ever interested in educating himself and his younger colleagues.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Casely, his eldest son Michael Gabriel Casely, his only daughter Sarah Rose Casely, and his youngest son Jacob Matthew Casely.

He was a faithful Christian, he loved the Lord, and his family.
