Hope Mills, NC

Nathan Davis, of Hope Mills, NC, entered into his heavenly home to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior on April 4, 2026.

Mr. Davis was born October 2, 1936, in Elizabethtown, NC, to the late Alfred and Lela Davis.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Alice “Faye” Davis; his parents, brothers, sisters, and extended family members.

He is survived by his family who love him dearly. His children, Charles (Janelle), Michael (Pam), and Larry; His grandchildren, Valerie (Matt), Ryan (Sydney), Christian (Sydney), Lindsey (Justin), Brad (Sarah), Carlos, Alicia, and Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Davis, Ellis, Bailey, Brady, Hayes, Levi, Brooklyn, Riley, and Maverick; sister, Evelyn; brother, Phil; niece, Tina; nephew, Gene and extended members of the Davis, Nance and Inman families.

As a child, Nathan was raised in Bladen County, where at an early age he developed a lifelong commitment to hard work, faith, and family. Mr. Davis married the love of his life, Faye, on January 12, 1957 in Dillion, SC. The young couple made their home in Hope Mills NC, where they raised their budding family and became fixtures of the community.

As a young man, Nathan began his career working at Hope Mills Mill No. 4. His experiences at the mill made a lasting impression and he would often share stories of his time working there. After his time at the mill, Nathan would enter into the lift truck industry, where he quickly developed a love for that business. Lift trucks would take Nathan and Faye first to Charlotte and later to Goldsboro before making their way back to Hope Mills in the 1960’s. That is when he would set out on his own to found Davis Lift Truck Service in April 1969. DLTS would prove to grow into one of the oldest and largest independent lift truck businesses in the south. His work ethic and unending devotion to his customers was something that he was very proud of. He believed that being honest and hard working was the only path to success. There was no place Nathan would rather be, than Davis Lift Truck Service, creating and maintaining relationships, serving his customers and blessing his employees.

As a devoted member of Hope Mills Church of God, for over 50 years, Mr. Davis served faithfully in many roles including; Sunday School Director, member of the Pastor’s Council, Finance Committee, Building Committee, and Christian Education Board. He always took any opportunity given to share the love of Christ with others. A Christian mentor and example of Christ's love he was.

Nathan Davis will be remembered for his strong faith, dedication to his family, joking wit, and genuine spirit. His warm smile, big hugs and positive outlook left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. His legacy will be cherished, and will live on for generations to come.
