Ophelia Maynard

Ophelia Brewington Maynard was born December 29, 1935  and on Thursday, January 12, 2012 God reached down with His great hand of mercy and took Ophelia home.



Ophelia retired from the Cumberland County Association of Indian People as the Director of the Adult Basic Education program.  She began her teaching career at the Maple Grove Indian School in Dunn, then taught at the Les Maxwell School and Cumberland Road Elementary in Fayetteville.  For forty years, Ophelia proudly served as a dealer of Stanley Home Products.



She is survived by daughters Sondra Lewis and husband Gene and Beth Maynard; sisters-in-law Callie Goins, Gaynelle Brewington, and Deloris Brewington; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.



Ophelia was preceded in death by her husband James Maynard; son Jaime Raylon Maynard; parents Rossie Brewington and Alvin Brewington; brothers Ezra Brewington and Raeford Brewington.



The funeral will be held at Macedonia Holiness Church, 207 Indian Drive in Fayetteville at 2:00 p.m.  Sunday, January 15, 2012.
