Oscar Donzel Trogdon

Oscar Donzel Trogdon, 98, of Hope Mills, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Born on May 17, 1928, in Cumberland County, Oscar was the son of the late Walter and Rosa Wheeler Trogdon. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Hampton Trogdon; son, Donald Cary Trogdon; grandson, Gavin Clark Trogdon; three sisters; one brother; and ten half siblings.

He is survived by his son, Darryl Trogdon and his wife Johanna; daughter, Robin Watts and her husband Chip; grandson, Ryan Trogdon; granddaughter, Courtney Brannon; and great granddaughter, Madeline Brannon.

Oscar was a veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably serving during the Korean War. After his military career he became an auto body mechanic and worked several years with Bryan Pontiac before retiring. In his free time, Oscar loved the outdoors. Whether he was out in his yard keeping it immaculate or avidly playing golf, he enjoyed being outside whenever he could.

Being a man strong in his Christian beliefs, Oscar continually strengthened his faith as a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Hope Mills.

He loved the simple things in life, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He was happiest when spending time with them, especially his great granddaughter Madeline. Oscar will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
