Rachel Bernice Spell Wallace, 83, beloved daughter of the late Albert and Roxie Spell, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026. Born on September 19, 1942, Rachel lived a life rooted deeply in her faith in Christ and defined by selfless love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Rachel was the heart of her family—a steady, comforting presence whose love could always be felt, whether through her gentle words, faithful prayers, or simply being there when she was needed most. She found joy in serving others and remained devoted to her church family throughout her life.
Rachel’s love lives on through her daughters, Tammy H. Speight of Hope Mills, NC, and Tracey Hart (Philip) of Saint Pauls, NC; her stepchildren, Sherry Gann (Barry) of Reidsville, NC, and David Wallace of Greensboro, NC; her grandchildren, Lindsey Brock of Hope Mills, NC, Austin Simpson of Saint Pauls, NC, and Emma Simpson of Grays Creek, NC; and her sisters, Mary Daniels (Wayne) of Garner, NC, and Jean Hodges of Georgia. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous stepchildren and many great-grandchildren who were blessed by her example of faith and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Wallace; her son, Robert “Dwayne” Hanners; her stepdaughter, Debra Wheeler; her granddaughter, Kristy Sorrells; her grandson, Christopher Speight; her parents, Albert and Roxie Spell; her sister, Faye Wilkerson; and her brother, A.C. Spell—all of whom she now joins in eternal peace.
Rachel will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and the deep love she poured into her family and friends. While she will be dearly missed, her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured, the faith she demonstrated, and the love she gave so freely.
A service to celebrate Rachel’s life will be held on May 12, 2026, at Arran Lakes Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service.
