Rifton Douglas Parker, Jr.

Rifton Douglas Parker, Jr., 79, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Born in Jacksonville, NC, Rifton was the son of the late Rifton Parker, Sr., and Annie Mae Fisher Parker. He is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Gene Parker and Jeral Parker, as well as his sister, Kathy Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Parker, of Hope Mills, NC; sister, Laura Ann Parker Everett and husband Tommy, of Sneads Ferry, NC; Brother, Billy Parker and wife Jeannie, of Wilmington, NC.

A proud veteran, Rifton served in the army for 23 years, including tours during Vietnam and Desert Storm. Throughout his career, he was honored to serve with the 1st Calvary Division and the 82nd Airborne Division before retiring. 

Rifton loved the outdoors, spending his time gardening and admiring his two old tractors. He had a deep passion for playing and singing bluegrass and gospel music, as well as playing his Mandolin with his music buddies. As a devout Christian, he was often found studying his bible and he deeply cherished the fellowship and the pastor of Green Springs Baptist Church.
