Saundra Lee Edington

Ms. Saundra Edington, of Fayetteville, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Saundra was born on November 11, 1948, in Beckley, West Virginia to the late Louis and Edna Humphrey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Jeff Alling and stepson, Lei-Shen Edington.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick Raymond Edington; brother, John Humphrey; sister, Jeannene Weber; daughters, Tammy Stephens, Jennifer Starr, and Sumer Spell; stepchildren, Shu-Fen Edington and Lei-Lun Edington; grandchildren, Autumn Williams, Eryn Fransman, Eddie Williams III (Bub), Elijah Williams, Kenzie Williams, Eva Spell, Ricky Dean, Beth Dean, Carrie Taylor, and Christen Goodknight; several step-grandchildren; great grandchildren, Tyler Dean, Jordan Dean, and Kyle Dean; and a host of other family and friends.

As much as Saundra enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandchildren were the center of her world. She absolutely loved to babysit when they were younger and have them stay the night.

Sandra loved to bake and cook. You never left her house hungry or empty handed. Her Thanksgiving meals were legendary. No one could cook a turkey like her and her homemade gravy was always a hit. Saundra's favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved playing Christmas games and having the grandchildren sing 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'. She loved gardening and really enjoyed sewing.

Saundra was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will have a lifetime lasting impact on her children and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers during this time. We'd also like to thank the staff of Cape Fear Valley and Valley Hospice House for taking wonderful care of Saundra.
