Simon Burney

Simon Alexander Burney, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at UNC Hospital.

Born in Bladen County, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Ora Lucretia Fisher Burney. He was a farmer in the Grays Creek Community and he also was the owner of Lafayette Exxon for over 20 years.

Simon is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Jessup Burney; daughter, Cindy Burney; son, Franklin Burney and wife Susie; sister, Luine Brison, all of Fayetteville; two brothers, John F. Burney and J.W. Burney, both of White Oak; six grandchildren, Angel Pridgen, Jennifer Burney, Kimberly Wall, Ryan, David and Wesley Walters; 11 great grandchildren, McKenzie, Ellie, Maggie, Gavin, Tucker, Harrison, Callie, Miya, Landon, Alexis and Colton.
