Ted LaRue Beverly, Sr., 82, of Fayetteville, passed away on January 20, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Born in Cumberland County, Ted was the son of the late Bennett and Mertys Beverly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Beverly.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret “Peggy” Beverly; their sons, Ted Beverly, Jr. and wife Chris Bettini, and Ben Beverly and wife Angel; grandchildren, Tyler Bettini, Tyler and Jaden Beverly; sisters, Julia Lewis and Marylou Dozier; brother-in-law, Bill Gardner and wife Eleanor; sister-in-law, Sue Clark; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Ted was an active member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served as a deacon, and was deeply involved in his community. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a tank and artillery specialist. Ted dedicated 31 years to the Fayetteville Fire Department before retiring, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community. An avid fisherman, home builder, tinkerer, and lover of the outdoors, Ted was known for his kindness and for building lasting relationships wherever he went.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services in Hope Mills, with the funeral service to follow. Ted will be laid to rest at 1:00 p.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park, where the Fayetteville Fire Department Honor Guard will pay tribute to his years of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the "Back Pack Buddies" program, c/o Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3350 Butler Nursery Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306, in Ted's honor.
Ted will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
