William Austin

William Alfonso Austin, 73, of Hope Mills, died Friday, August 6, 2010 at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. Austin was born March 23, 1937 in Charlotte, NC to Edward Ernest and Margaret Newton Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward "Sonny" Earnest Jr.

Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Wanda Council Austin, daughter Wendy and granddaughter Andersen Joy.

As a proud Marine William served on the Honor Guard for President Dwight D. Eisenhower and was a member of the USMC Silent Drill Team. He retired from Black and Decker after 37 years of service.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 9, 2010 from 7 to 9 PM at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services in Hope Mills, NC. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 11 AM, at Green Springs Baptist Church, 1095 E. Green Springs Road, Parkton, NC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
